Bones the Skeleton and I are very excited to tell you the news that we've received over the weekend! The Graveyard Shift is going to be published! It has also been entered into the semi-finals for a $2000.00 scholarship so that I can put it towards going back to school! We are both super excited for this and wanted to share it with everyone that has enjoyed the poem and also the paintings of Bones that go along with it. If you haven't had the chance to read it, here is the poem:
My bones are sore and cracky,
this coffee goes right through me,
this schedule makes me whacky,
and it’s much too dark to see!
My friends, they all are buried,
But I work all through the night!
I have no time to be scary
because I work when there’s no light!
I miss the days when I was young and nighttime was for haunting,
A good kid-scaring in the dark is all that I’ve been wanting.
But I have to work the Graveyard Shift before I can rest my bones,
to pay the debt that I am due for taking out those loans."
And of course, the painting of Bones is the picture above. I am very grateful for this opportunity for exposure and the opportunity to be a semi-finalist to win the scholarship. I wish the best of luck to the other nominees and also to anyone who is in the same situation as I am. It goes to show that if you believe in what you do, have fun with it, and take whatever chance comes your way, you'll get a shot at something!
Everyone have a nice day ^^
